Chipotle Quesadilla Review

Chipotle is a titan in the fast-food industry and is best known for its hardcore fanbase and its excellent food safety record. The Mexican chain has recently come out with its newest product – the quesadilla. After beta testing in various locations, they decided to pull the trigger, leading to a nationwide release. The product can only be ordered through their website or app. It comes with a quesadilla, obviously, and also three sides of your choice. Yes, guac still costs extra. With nothing better to do, I decided to pig out and order their newest brainchild.

I used Chipotle’s app to order which was a very fast process as I only spent a minute selecting my order and paying for it. Chipotle wants more customers to get familiar with its digital presence hence why they forced everyone to order online. However, ordering online is not a burden and offers many benefits such as simplicity and its rewards program where you’re eligible to receive free entrees after reaching a certain amount of points.

After picking up my order, I was excited to see what Chipotle had concocted. They fill their quesadillas with Monterey cheese and allow you to choose whatever meats or non-meats you want to put in. Since I don’t hate myself and like to enjoy food, I opted for a meat option. I chose chicken, a classic pick in my opinion. As for the sides, I chose their fresh tomato salsa (trying to hit my daily veggie count), white rice (white over brown all day), and beans (why not). Everything was neatly stowed in this compostable box that reminded me of a Japanese bento box with each individual compartment containing a different food. The quesadilla is pretty good with an appropriate ratio of cheese and chicken. There’s not much to describe except that it was cheesy and had chunks of Chipotle’s famous chicken. The tortilla was toasted which gave it a nice crunch. I won’t dilly-dally on the sides since I’m sure everyone knows what they taste like. I polished off the whole thing easily, but I still felt a bit hungry. This quesadilla costs more than any of their other products like their tacos or burritos, yet it didn’t even fully satiate my poor belly. I would opt for more filling sides in the future such as doubling up on rice and ditching the salsa.

After my initial order, I developed cravings for Chipotle which led to me ordering their quesadilla an additional three times. I decided to change up the meats, and I tried a combination of steak and barbacoa and carnitas on its own. Their carnitas were insanely dry and almost made Popeye’s biscuits seem wet. My favorite filling would have to be the steak and barbacoa combo. Two types of beef in one quesadilla – genius. Something strange was that they changed the packaging during some of my visits. They reverted back to their burrito bowls and their plastic cups. I’m guessing they just ran out of their new boxes. I would highly recommend everyone to try their new quesadilla, and you might just convert from a burrito boy to a quesadilla specialist.
