I Got EARLY Access to Google’s Search Labs!

Here’s Google’s Plan to Destroy ChatGPT…

It’s 1998. Larry Page and Sergey Brin officially launch Google. This “search engine” can supposedly search for anything and everything. The possibilities are endless. Over the following decades, it would become the world’s most used search engine, surpassing firefox, bing, and yahoo.

Now, fast-forward two and a half decades. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman launches an unprecedented generative AI called ChatGPT. Instead of having to browse through multiple sites for an answer to your question on Google, an AI can give you the answer, saving time.

With companies and websites incorporating OpenAI’s chatbot, Google comes up with something that diminishes the very reason people use ChatGPT. It’s called Search Labs, and it’s one of the most useful things Google has put out since its search engine. Let me show you…

First, I’m going to type in the following into the search bar:

Now, instead of showing me multiple sites that might have the answer to my question, Google tells me what I’m looking for in a little section colored section. Observe:

Not only does is it aeshetically pleasing, but it also gives you common follow-up questions at the bottom. In the image above, this includes questions like “Is Medium a reputable website?” and “Why do people use Medium.com?”. Amazing, right?

But, if that’s not the follow-up you want to ask the AI, you can click in the “Ask a follow up” bar at the bottom left and…

Type in what you want to ask.

I also have to praise Google for giving it such a clean design. The color choices are different with every search, and all of them make you want to Google it instead of using ChatGPT or Bing.

Here’s an example of another color:

Simply Amazing.

Now this is just one of three components of the Search Labs. It’s called the Search Generative Experience. There’s also “Code Tips” and “Add to Sheets” features. Here they are:

So, there you have it. A sneak peak into what might become wide spread in the future: search labs. Let me know what you think about this and if it’ll affect OpenAI’s business. Would you use it if Google makes it available to everyone, or will you stick to GPT/Bing?
