Electric cars are the future of transportation as they help save the environment and reduce the cost of fuel for customers. Nowadays, more and more people are making the switch from gasoline to electric cars in this ever rising demand and price of fuel.
Electric cars use a large battery composed of many smaller lithium-ion batteries to store electricity and charge up the car. Instead of using an internal combustion engine, electric cars use electricity for fuel instead of conventional gasoline or diesel. Most electric cars have a range of 300 – 500 miles with a typical lithium-ion battery.
Electric cars can also help save the environment, since they do not release any pollutants like carbon dioxide or CFCs. Gasoline cars release smog into the air, which can lead to global warming and health problems for the elderly and children. Researchers say that EVs are a crucial step in slowing global warming, which is slowly destroying the atmosphere that all humans need to breathe.
Tesla was the first automobile company to standardize electric cars. Over 80,000 Model S’s have been sold by Tesla, leading the U.S. government to give a tax subsidy to anyone who owns a Tesla. Many companies are now following in Tesla’s footsteps like Ford, Lucid, Hummer, Rivian, and Polestar. These startup companies are trying to bring a new take on an electric car. For example, Lucid Air is trying to make a luxury electric car, whereas Rivian is trying to make an electric pickup truck. So far, Tesla is the only company that has created their own charging system for their cars. Any electric car other than a Tesla must use a third-party charger like Blink, ChargePoint, and EVGo. The lack of quality of EV charging stations poses a major blockade to the ability of EVs to become the new norm. Even Tesla charging stations are full most of the time, with consumers having to wait to charge their Tesla.
Although electric cars are seen as the best way to save our planet, they can still be improved in many aspects. One of these aspects is the high price tags of these cars. An electric car usually costs more than a conventional gasoline car, reducing its affordability to common consumers. Another downside to electric cars is their range. A typical gasoline car has a range of 400-500 miles, whereas an electric car only has a range of 200-300 miles. This small range and increased price reduces the likability and affordability of EV’s, so electric car companies are trying to create a battery that is affordable, and that can give the car a longer range.
Overall, I believe that EV’s can make a positive impact on the environment and people’s lives. Many aspects of electric cars can be improved like thier affordability, range, maintenance, and charging systems. EVs can make a positive impact on the environment and the transportation system as a whole.
