Tri-M Special Olympics

Last month Tri-M volunteered at a special olympics event being held at Palo Verde sports complex. The Special Olympics is the largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics organization allows millions of disabled athletes to participate in all types of sports activities and competitions around the world. Tri-M (Our Music Honor Society) went to the Adult Softball tournament to volunteer to provide scorekeeping, commentation, and awards to all the participating teams. Tri-M wasn’t the only volunteer service present, dozens of other volunteers were present. The first game was a total blowout with the Bobcats winning with a score of (7-21). Then the anticipated championship between the Tornados and the Bobcats commenced at 12:30. Ajay provided overhead commentating for the game while Geoffery Seiverd recorded the score. Other volunteers from Tri-M included London Childs, Dallin Hunt, Caleb Hobbs, Lauren Taylor, Risha Nayeen, Zach Derrick, and Leo Almanzar with Mrs. Taylor leading the activities. The championship game was one by mercy rule with a blowout score. To celebrate, the winning team dumped a barrel of water on their coach. Then, awards were given and Tri-M helped with cleanup. Overall, Tri-M loved helping out and planning their contributions at Special Olympics.

P.S. Tri M is planning on putting on multiple open Mic-Nights throughout the year so be sure to practice and plan ahead.
