Paloma Community Park

The Parks and Recreation department of Peoria, Arizona recently opened Paloma community park on October 3, 2020. The park is located at 29799 North Lake Pleasant Parkway, Peoria, AZ which is about a ten-minute drive from our school. Interest for this park originally began all the way back in 2014, and initial construction of the park began in 2018. The park was split up into two distinct, construction phases. Phase one currently occupies 85 acres, and phase two, once finished, will add an additional 35 acres and an array of additional amenities. Paloma park joins its sister parks of Rio Vista community park and Pioneer park in the Peoria park system. The park currently operates daily from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. although hours may vary depending on holidays.

Even though this park isn’t fully completed, it already boasts a hefty amount of amenities. It currently boasts 712 parking spaces. It also has a massive, ball field complex that’s gated and lighted. It’s a perfect place for some good ol’ baseball or softball. Additionally, it has a gargantuan field where patrons can enjoy playing anything from competitive frisbee to soccer. Next to that field is the star jewel of the park – a gorgeous, fishing lake. However, only those with fishing licenses can partake in fishing. They must also comply with the fishing rules such as the number of fish they may catch per day. There is a humongous playground in addition to a splash pad(opening April 15, 2021) for children to frolic around in. While the children play, families can watch them in any of the eleven ramadas. In addition, Paloma comes equipped with concession stands for those feeling peckish and has three bathrooms scattered around the facility. It also has four, pickleball courts. Additionally, there’s a specific part dedicated to our furry pals. Paloma has three dog parks, and each park caters to a specific weight class(e.g. 35 pounds or under).

Despite all these amenities, the park isn’t finished, and phase two seeks to add an abundance of new facilities. The currently proposed amenities include the following: a skate/rollerblade/bike court, another ball field complex, a walking trail that connects to nearby Westwing Mountain, an equestrian trailhead, eight sand volleyball courts, two sport courts, more field space, a dedicated drone zone, and additional parking spaces and restrooms. After everything is completed, Peoria residents can enjoy 120 acres of pure fun for years to come.
