We decided to interview Mr. Altherr, the new math teacher, about his past and some of his hobbies. Credit goes to Zachary Thompson for the interview! Some questions and answers have been modified for clarification. Here are the questions asked:
Zach: What was your previous occupation?
Mr. Altherr: Previously worked at the City of Avondale as a water treatment operator. I also worked as a nuke in the navy [nuclear operator in the navy].
Z: Where did you go to school for college?
A: I first went to the University of Arizona, then got my degree at Grand Canyon University.
Z: What was something you did in school that you would like to note?
A: I was in a Native Arizonan symphony orchestra for 9 years.
Z: What was your major?
A: I was an MBA [Master of Bussiness Administration] major.
Z: What is your favorite school subject?
A: I like math, business, and finance the most.
Z: Are there any classes you struggled with in school?
A: I struggled in Biology and Chemistry.
Z: Did you ever have a favorite or a least favorite teacher?
A: I liked my Pre-Calc teacher the most. My least favorite teacher would be my home-room teacher in 5th grade.
Z: What is your favorite color?
A: My favorite color is orange.
Z: What is your favorite movie/TV show?
A: I don’t really watch a lot of movies or TV shows, but if I were to say a favorite of mine, it would be the Star Wars trilogy.
Z: What is your favorite book?
A: Unshakable by Tony Robins. I like non-fiction books in general; I feel like I can learn a lot from them.
Z: What hobbies do you have?
A: I like tinkering with electronics, programming, game development, and I even had an interest in metal smelting for a while.
Z: Any favorite video games or did you just like developing them?
A: I like Classic WoW [World of Warcraft] and just RPG’s [Roleplay Games] in general.
Z: What is your favorite fast-food restaurant?
A: Depends on my mood, really. Although I do like my shakes.
Z: What is your favorite type of food?
A: Mexican food.
Z: Favorite Mexican restaurant?
A: Macayo’s Mexican food.
Z: Do you travel a lot?
A: I traveled a lot while in the military.
Z: How many places have you been to?
A: I’ve been to South Carolina, Colorado, Minnesota, Britain, Japan, China, and Korea.
Z: What is your most favorite place you’ve been to?
A: Japan is the most favorite place I’ve been to.
