Mr. Caballero
New administrators often get a bad rap. They are seen as the dealers of punishment and sorrow, and as most students have known the new deans for a very small amount of time it is often difficult to find common points between the two parties. However, the Basis Bugle is determined to bridge the gaps between students and deans through interviews which can help the two groups find common interests. If you see Mr. Caballero in the hallways don’t be intimidated and say hi!
Q: What did you do before you began to work as dean at Basis Peoria?
Mr. Caballero: I was enlisted in the military as a military officer.
Q: How has your experience as a dean been so far?
Mr. Caballero: My time as a dean has been awesome, adventurous and exciting because of the variety of personalities represented at BASIS, “everybody has their own little flavor”.
Q: Do you have any tips for basis students?
Mr. Caballero: Strive to do your best for yourself but also for the service of others, “building tomorrow’s leaders.”
Q: What are your hobbies and or interests?
Mr. Caballero: I enjoy anything fitness related as well as martial arts and cars.
Q: And what are your favorite martial arts?
Mr. Caballero: Mainly, I practice Taekwondo and have been doing it for 20 plus years. I have practiced it at Choi’s Traditional Taekwondo Academy; however, my favorite martial arts is that of the Shaolin monks because of what that fighting style stands for and for its combative, meditative and leader-building characteristics.
Q: And what is your favorite car and or dream car?
Mr. Caballero: My favorite car is the 1972 Datsun Fairlady(Datsun 240z in the states) and I am looking to revive the old JDM car with a modern flair by giving it modern suspension and completely swapping out the old engine with that of a Nissan Gtr R35. I am hoping to raise the money and find the right 240z in order to start working on the project by the end of the year, and when I finish the build I will bring it to school.
Impromptu Question!
What is your workout regiment?
Mr. Caballero: Depends on how I’m feeling, so ultimately my mood, it can be run, pull, push, legs or chest kinda day. As long as it keeps me active, I do it. However, I always lift and do cardio 4 days a week.
